Nature's Pantry is the largest and most complete health food store in Alamogordo, New Mexico It is located at 915 New York Avenue in the historic downtown area of the city. When approaching from the south on US 54 or US 70, drive to the signal on tenth street and turn right for one block. Turn right on New York (a one way street going south) and Nature's Pantry is near the middle of the block on the right. When approaching from the north on US 54 or US 70, drive to the signal light on tenth street and turn left for one block and then right on New York.

Nature's Pantry features one of the most complete book sections on health in southern New Mexico on diet, herbology, homeopathy, fitness, conquering disease through natural means and cookbooks for healthy living Customers are invited to browse through books at one of the serving tables.

Another feature utilizing the tables is the luncheon service. Sandwiches are prepared fresh each morning as are garden salads. From October through March, home made soups are served. - Customers purchasing soups may select from different home made breads to go with the soup. Nature's Pantry also has coffee, various teas, hot chocolate, hot cider, burritos, veggie pockets, tamales and other items which can be heated in the microwave furnished as an additional service.

Owner, Gretta Oehring, is a nationally certified Nutritionist through the American Health Science University and the National Institute of Nutritional Education. She has been in the health food industry for nearly forty-five years as a student of health and nutrition, a company representative, health store manager, and has owned stores in Florida and New Mexico over twelve years.

Each of the employees of Nature's Pantry takes the Bastyr College course on nutrition and counseling consisting of thirty lessons. When they have completed this course, other courses are offered in various fields of the health food industry. They are encouraged to attend seminars sponsored by leading companies in the industry.

A special service provided is counseling for those with health problems. Clients are encouraged to make appointments for counseling with Gretta.

The well-stocked shelves provide easy location of items in Nature's Pantry. If an item is not in stock, special orders are taken if the product can be obtained. Products may be ordered in bulk and are discounted when ordered in this manner. Nature's Pantry orders from over sixty suppliers nation wide. Once an ordered product arrives, the customer is called immediately to notify him/her that the item is now in stock.

Nature's Pantry also takes mail orders nation wide.

Frozen foods and refrigerated items are available at Nature's Pantry.
